In Arnhem, much effort has been made in recent years to make the intersection of Hommelseweg with Dalweg and Thomas a Kempislaan safer. Due to the many (near) accidents, this intersection had long been on the list of dangerous traffic points in Arnhem. Therefore, the municipality built a roundabout in 2021. The Klarenbeek Residents' Network (BNK) also contributed ideas on ways to make the intersection even safer.

One of their wishes: a defibrillator at the Tango gas station. And that has been achieved! On Thursday, March 2, 2023, Arnhem alderman Nermina Kundić unveiled the new AED.

From wish to real AED
At the end of September 2022, the BNK discussed the intersection with neighborhood residents during a community meeting. From all the ideas and plans put forward, a neighborhood program emerged, which included the wish for an AED, among other things. An idea that deserves top priority according to the BNK! And so they pulled out all the stops to make this a reality before the summer of 2023.

The BNK visited the desired location, Tango gas station, and was enthusiastically received. Not only did Tango agree to the AED being placed on the premises, but the gas station also provides the necessary electricity and security for the AED free of charge.

“The supplier of the equipment, AED-Partner, also cooperated generously by not only supplying the equipment at a special price, but also by installing it lightning-fast and even providing training for six people from the neighborhood.”

It's good to hear that our collaboration was experienced positively and that we are working together with various parties in this way to transform the old, unsafe intersection into a safer place step by step.
