Stichting Philadelphia Zorg supports people with disabilities in leading their own lives. With a wide range of services, from (supported) living and respite care to day activities and out-patient support, and more than 690 locations throughout the Netherlands, they provide daily care to over 10,000 clients.
From his role as Safety Coordinator, Mike Wijngaarden saw an important opportunity to further improve safety. There was no central policy in place regarding the deployment of AEDs at the different locations. In consultation with the board, it was therefore decided to equip all 52 intensive care locations with an AED, at the very least. These locations are often somewhat remote, making rapid emergency response even more crucial. For the remaining locations, the use of AEDs was actively encouraged.
Following a careful inventory, it was found that some intensive care locations already had AEDs, but 17 locations were still missing them. A reliable partner was sought who could provide both delivery and maintenance.
Through the existing collaboration with Chubb for the supply of fire extinguishers, Philadelphia came into contact with AED-Partner. The personal contact and attention to the organization's specific wishes were experienced as very pleasant. “This approach aligned well with who we are as an organization.”
Ultimately, the Mindray BeneHeart C2 AED was chosen due to its strong price-quality ratio. Depending on the situation, the AEDs were placed both indoors and outdoors, including appropriate cabinets and professional installation. Registration with HartslagNu was also neatly handled by AED-Partner where necessary.
The collaboration between Chubb and AED-Partner is experienced as very positive. What is particularly notable is the service orientation:“Even an AED that was not supplied by AED-Partner was simply taken along during a check.”For the newly installed AEDs, an all-in service subscription has been chosen, and consideration is being given to extending this for the remaining devices.
Thanks to this joint approach, Philadelphia has taken an important step in further increasing safety for clients and employees.
