How much does an AED cost?

The price of an AED ranges from €1,200 to €2,500 (excluding VAT). The exact costs depend on the brand, the chosen (additional) functionalities, and the included accessories.

The models at the lower end of this range are often simple, robust devices that are perfect for offices or sports clubs. If you opt for a more advanced model with extra features, such as an LCD screen with video instructions or real-time feedback on chest compression depth, the price can go up to €2,500 excluding VAT.

In addition to the purchase price, you must take into account recurring costs for maintenance, replacement of parts, and (optional) theft insurance. Are you choosing an AED from AED-Partner? With us, you always receive a complete and ready-to-use package, including:

  • AED battery
  • Electrode set for adults
  • Manual
  • Bag, sheath, or case
  • CPR Rescue Kit (gloves, razor, paramedic scissors, and 1 set of gloves)
  • Safe Kiss breathing mask
  • AED sticker green (15x20cm)
  • All-In Service Subscription (1 year)

What factors influence the price of an AED?

Not every AED is the same. The price is determined by a number of important technical and practical features:

  1. Brand and reliability
Well-known brands such as ZOLL, Philips, or Physio-Control invest heavily in clinical research and sustainable materials. This is reflected in the price, but also in reliability and lifespan.

  2. Guidance and ease of use
Some AEDs offer more support than others. Consider devices that measure whether you are performing CPR correctly and give you active instructions. The more coaching the device offers, the higher the price often is.

  3. Ingress Protection rating (IP rating)
An AED that hangs in a dusty or humid environment (like a factory hall or near a swimming pool) requires higher protection. Devices with a high IP rating are often more expensive to produce.

  4. Technological innovation
Modern AEDs can be connected to an online monitoring system via Wi-Fi or 4G. You will then automatically receive a notification if there is a failure. These smart features increase the purchase price.

What are the additional costs of an AED?

Besides the purchase of the AED itself, there are a number of cost items to consider for safe, durable placement:

AED cabinet

For an indoor space, a wall bracket or simple cabinet is often sufficient (€29 – €470). Do you want to hang the AED outside? Then a special outdoor cabinet with heating and ventilation is essential to protect the battery from frost and other elements (€230 – €755).

Maintenance costs

Maintenance is essential for the operation of an AED. Did you know that electrodes and batteries have a limited lifespan, even if you never use the device? On average, you therefore replace the electrodes every 2 years (€50 – €230) and the battery every 4 to 5 years (€15 – €480). And if the AED has been used? Then you must have these parts replaced quickly.

Following a malfunction or after deployment, a technical check is also necessary. This can be done through an on-site visit or by sending the AED to us. To avoid costs for separate inspections and parts, many organizations opt for a service subscription. For a fixed annual fee between €124 and €340, we will handle the maintenance for you. We will keep track of when parts need replacement, and after deployment, we will visit you within 6 hours for maintenance.

Installation costs

Proper mounting is important for the visibility, accessibility, and protection of an AED. For outdoor cabinets, for example, a power outlet often needs to be installed for heating. AED-Partner can take care of the entire professional installation, so you don't have to worry about it.

Insurance

In an emergency, you want your AED to be deployed as quickly as possible. With the theft insurance With AED-Partner, you insure your AED against theft. Is your device stolen? Then you will immediately receive a replacement unit from us, with no excess.
