The Philips HeartStart HS1 and FRx battery (M5070A) lasts approximately 4 years. This lithium battery is non-rechargeable. When the M5070A runs out of power, the defibrillator emits an audible signal and the blue ‘i’ button flashes.

The battery bears an 'install before' date. To qualify for the warranty, you must install the AED battery in an AED before this date.

For example, if the 'install before' date is 2030, you may install the M5070A up to that date, and the battery will have a 4-year service life covered by the warranty. If you install the battery after 2030, the warranty does not apply. The 'install before' date is therefore not an expiration date, but a deadline for installation.

How do I replace the Philips HeartStart HS1 and FRx battery?

You can easily replace this battery yourself. Press the tab on the back of the AED to 'pop' the battery out. You can then click the new battery into place. After inserting the battery, the device will instruct you to test the shock button. The AED is then ready for use again. You can dispose of the old battery with small chemical waste or at a battery collection point (e.g., in a supermarket).

Depending on the type of service agreement you have with AED-Partner, we can replace the battery for you during a service visit.

Do the electrodes need replacing too?

Do you want to replace the electrodes as well as the batteries soon? You can also order new Philips HeartStart HS1 electrodes or Philips HeartStart FRx electrodes from us.

Service agreement

Regular maintenance ensures your AED is always ready for optimal use. You can take out a service agreement with AED-Partner to arrange this maintenance. We will notify you, for instance, when the battery and/or electrodes of your AED(s) need replacing. We also arrive on-site within 6 hours for maintenance following an incident.
