AED for industry

A heart-safe industry with an AED

In industrial environments, work often involves physical strain, machines, and extensive sites. Employees are frequently spread out across halls, workshops, and outdoor locations. This very fact can mean it takes time for emergency services to arrive. With an AED on-site, bystanders can immediately take life-saving action and bridge the gap until professional help arrives.

Which AED is suitable for an industrial work environment?

In industry, an AED must be able to withstand more extreme conditions, such as a lot of dust, moisture, and temperature differences. Therefore, we recommend a robust fully automatic AED with a high IP rating. A multilingual AED with loud or visual instructions is also preferred. This way, any bystander can act quickly when every second counts. With our AED Choice Assistant, you can quickly and freely discover which AED suits your situation:

In short: AEDs for industry

  • Industrial environments require robust AEDs.
  • Employees are often spread out over large sites.
  • Rapid deployment is crucial in case of cardiac arrest.
  • Suitable for use by first aiders and colleagues.
  • Maintenance necessary for usability.

Why is an AED important in the industry?

In industrial areas, the distance to emergency services is often greater than in urban environments. In short, it takes longer for an ambulance or trauma helicopter to arrive. Bystanders then play a crucial role. By quickly calling 112, starting CPR, and retrieving (or having retrieved) an AED, they can significantly increase the victim's chances of survival.

Is an AED mandatory on an industrial estate?

An AED is not legally required in the workplace. There is also no specific requirement for industrial companies. However, according to the Dutch Working Conditions Act (Arbowet), employers must ensure a safe working environment. Therefore, more and more companies are appointing an emergency response officer or prevention advisor and including an AED in their safety policy.

Where do you place an AED on an industrial site?

On an expansive site, correct placement revolves around distribution and accessibility. Often, multiple AEDs are needed to ensure an AED is always available within 6 minutes. Logical locations include, for example, in the production hall, at the entrance or security desk, in the canteen, or at a workshop. The most important thing is that employees know where the AED is located and that it is freely accessible.

How much does an AED cost, including maintenance?

The exact costs depend on the type of AED, the necessary accessories (such as a cabinet), and annual maintenance costs. The latter is a must for AEDs. Both the AED itself, as well as the batteries and electrodes, have a limited lifespan. With our service subscriptions, we keep an eye on your AEDs and ensure they are always ready for use.

Our Customers' Experiences

“The collaboration with AED-Partner is going excellently. When purchasing our 15 Cardiac Science Powerheart G5s, our employees received clear and practical training, ensuring everyone knows exactly how the devices work. We now have 15 AEDs within the company. Recently, we replaced five units after their warranty period expired – we consciously chose the same reliable model again.”

Frequently asked questions

No. Most AEDs have large buttons or a touchscreen that can be operated with gloves on, such as warm (winter) gloves or work gloves. Nevertheless, it is better to take off your (work) gloves. This way, you can more easily cut through a shirt or bra with the scissors from the Rescue Kit. It is also difficult to properly attach the electrodes to the victim's chest with work gloves. Therefore, always take off your (work) gloves as soon as you start CPR.

You can, of course, operate an AED with the nitrile (hygienic) disposable gloves from the Rescue Kit.

You protect an AED by placing it in a sturdy outdoor cabinet. These cabinets are often made of impact-resistant material and are also available with extra security options, such as a PIN code lock or an alarm that goes off as soon as the cabinet is opened.

You can also prevent vandalism and theft by placing the cabinet in a conspicuous (busy) location within the view of cameras.

At AED-Partner you can also a theft insurance closing the deal. Is your AED stolen? Then we will ensure that you receive a replacement AED quickly.

The rule of thumb is that you should be able to administer the first shock within six minutes. This means that an AED should be accessible within a roughly two-minute walk, so that you also have time to run back and connect the AED. For a large floor area with obstacles or corridors, multiple devices are therefore often necessary. Our Customer Service is happy to help you with no-obligation advice.

Yes, anyone is allowed to and can use an AED. An Automatic External Defibrillator is designed so that it can be operated by anyone, even without medical knowledge or a first aid certificate. As soon as you turn on the device, a voice tells you exactly what to do. The AED analyzes the heart rhythm itself and only delivers a shock if it is truly necessary. So you cannot do it wrong. The 112 emergency call center also guides you through the entire resuscitation process.

Yes, at AED-Partner you can rent an AED temporarily or lease it for a longer period. If you choose to lease, we will send you the AED ready for use and complete with all accessories (such as a bag and Rescue Kit). Maintenance is also included with leasing: we monitor the AED remotely and will take immediate action if parts are (almost) due for replacement or if the AED has been used.

This is not mandatory, but we strongly recommend it. This way, the 112 emergency center always knows where the nearest AED is. In the event of an emergency nearby, this allows civilian responders to immediately retrieve your AED and act to save a life.
