BAM has a very beautiful project in the form of the Stadsbaantunnel in the municipality of Utrecht. The tunnel was built to enable large-scale urban development on top of the tunnel and at Utrecht Leidsche Rijn station. The maintenance protocols and regime for tunnels are very strict, and therefore also for the Stadsbaantunnel. Several times a year there are maintenance periods, during which the tunnel is closed at night. At such times, a whole team works with all their might on what is planned. And on solving the faults that arise as a result, for example. ‘Really hard work!’. At such times, 60 to 70 people can be found working in all sorts of spaces within the tunnel.

Safety is truly paramount at BAM

So, should anything happen, it is very important that the right resources are within reach. Within this project, a special agreement has been made with the municipality of Utrecht; together with BAM, they have funded the purchase of an AED.

Contact was made with AED-Partner and they very quickly arranged for an AED to be installed in the tunnel. ‘Before the upcoming maintenance night, and we are very happy with that!’. Good advice was given about, for example, which type of AED is best suited for such an environment and which cabinet was needed.

It was about 1 AED now, but that might change in the future, as we have more projects ongoing and in the pipeline.
