Hierbij stopt het hart met pompen, vaak door boezemfibrilleren (chaotisch trillen van de hartkamers). Hierdoor wordt er geen bloed meer rondgepompt, waardoor spieren, organen en hersenen geen zuurstof meer krijgen. Dit kan al na enkele minuten tot blijvende schade leiden.\n<\/div><h2 class=\"bde-heading-855-126 bde-heading\">\nEen AED vergroot de overlevingskans bij een hartstilstand\n<\/h2><div class=\"bde-text-855-127 bde-text\">\nElke minuut zonder hulp neemt de overlevingskans bij een hartstilstand met 10% af. Lukt het omstanders om binnen 6 minuten te starten met reanimeren en een AED aan te sluiten?
